Drop one tablet into a glass or a cleaning cup of warm water - not hot - with your retainer, aligner or night guard in it. It fizzes, you brush your teeth, you take the appliance out and rinse it under the tap.
The soak lifts the film off. That is the whole mechanism and it is not a complicated one.

If your appliance has gone properly cloudy, that is usually scratching and mineral build-up that has been there for months, and no tablet is getting that back to clear. Anything that tells you otherwise is selling you something.
What this does is stop the next one going the same way. If you have a new retainer, or one that is still in decent shape, this is the thing that keeps it there.
Rinse it under running water before you wear it, properly, every time. Not a quick pass - actually rinse it.

Not at the temperature we ask for. The thing that damages clear thermoplastic is heat, so use warm water and never boiling - a warped appliance is a far worse outcome than a cloudy one.
