For skin that has gone dull

1500 mg of L-glutathione in a liposomal carrier, taken as 2 mL under the tongue. One 60 mL bottle is thirty servings.

  • Your face stops looking flat in photographs: that is the thing buyers describe first, usually around week four, and usually because somebody else asked them what they had changed.
  • You get the back half of the afternoon back: the second most common report, and the one people who did not buy it for their skin at all keep mentioning.
  • 1500 mg, and we will say which 1500: other labels headline 2000 mg, which is usually 1500 of actual glutathione plus a blend. Ours is the same arithmetic, printed the honest way round.
  • 2 mL under the tongue, once: thirty seconds, no water, no capsules to swallow - because plain glutathione is broken down before it is absorbed, and a liposome is what gets past that.

Made in small batches because glutathione oxidises. Batch 3 is the last of this run.

My sister asked what I had changed

I had been taking it about six weeks and had honestly stopped thinking about it. My sister asked whether I had done something to my skin, which is not a question anyone had asked me in a long while. It is not dramatic and I want to be honest about that - it is that my face stopped looking flat in photographs. The taste is faintly odd and I take it before coffee so I do not notice.

I came off the capsules for this

I had been taking glutathione capsules for about a year and never really believed they were doing anything, because everything I read said it gets broken down before you absorb it. The liquid under the tongue made more sense to me. I cannot prove it absorbs better, but I feel different on this than I did on those, and I have stopped buying the capsules.

It was the afternoons for me

I did not buy it for my skin at all. I bought it because I was losing every afternoon from about three o'clock and I was fed up with it. That came back first, somewhere in the second month, and the skin thing turned up later and was a bonus. Two millilitres under the tongue and you get on with your day.

Glutathione is a fragile molecule and most of it is broken apart by digestion before it reaches the bloodstream. That is the whole reason liposomal versions exist.

The phosphatidylcholine forms a shell around it - the same kind of membrane your own cells are built from - which holds together long enough to get past the stomach. Taking it under the tongue skips part of that journey again.

Glutathione contains sulfur, so it should smell faintly of something. It should not smell of eggs.

A strong sulfurous smell means the bottle has oxidised, which is why this is made in small batches and why the bottle is amber glass rather than clear. If one ever arrives smelling wrong, do not try to get through it - email us and we will replace it. That is the single most common complaint about liquid glutathione and it is a freshness problem, not a fact of life.

Because 2000 mg is usually not 2000 mg of glutathione.

On most labels it is the total of the glutathione plus whatever else is in the blend. Ours is 1500 mg of L-glutathione and a separate 500 mg of vitamin C, hyaluronic acid and aloe vera oil, named rather than folded into a headline figure. Same arithmetic, printed the other way round. If you compare labels, compare the glutathione line and not the big number on the front.

Some people feel nothing, and we would rather say so here than have you find out in week six.

The reports that do come in are mostly about skin looking less flat and about getting more of the afternoon back, and they cluster around the four to eight week mark rather than the first fortnight. Finish the bottle. If it did nothing, the 60-day guarantee is there and we would rather have it back.

It is not that you look tired. It is that you look the same in every light.

Tired is a Tuesday. You know what caused it and you know it goes. This is the other thing - the one where you have slept, you are not ill, nothing is wrong, and your face in a photograph still looks like a photocopy of your face.

It turns up in photos before it turns up in mirrors, because a mirror shows you what you expect and a camera does not. Most people notice it first in a picture somebody else took.

Glutathione is the antioxidant your own cells make, and you make steadily less of it from about thirty onwards. It is not something the body stockpiles, so there is no reserve to fall back on.

Which is why this is a daily thing, and why the change shows up on a four-week horizon rather than a four-day one.

Dull is not the same as tired.

The shell matters more than the number

Everyone in this aisle competes on milligrams, which is the least interesting thing about glutathione. The problem was never how much you swallow - it is that the molecule is taken apart by digestion before it gets anywhere. A liposome is a shell of phosphatidylcholine, the same material your own cell membranes are made of, wrapped around the glutathione so it holds together long enough to be absorbed. A bigger number on the front of a capsule does not solve that. The carrier does, or it does not.

Dull is not the same as tired

Tired shows up in your face for a day and then goes. Dull is the other thing - the flatness that turns up in photographs before you notice it in the mirror, where the light stops coming back off your skin the way it used to. It is the most common thing people describe changing on this, and it is also the hardest to point at, because nobody photographs their skin looking ordinary. What buyers report is other people asking whether they have changed something.

Two millilitres, under the tongue, done

Fill the dropper to the 2 mL line - about thirty drops - and hold it under your tongue for half a minute before you swallow. No water, no timing rules, no taking it with food. Most people do it before their first coffee because that is when they will remember. Thirty servings in a 60 mL bottle, so a bottle is a month, and consistency does considerably more here than the hour of the day.

What to expect

What buyers told us they noticed, and roughly when.

Week 1
Nothing yet, for most people. The thing worth checking this week is the bottle - it should smell of almost nothing.
Week 2
A couple of buyers describe waking up feeling slightly better before anything else changes. Most people are still waiting.
Week 4
The week most of the good reports land: skin looking less flat, and more of the afternoon getting used.
Week 8
Where the skin reports get more specific - evenness rather than brightness, and it holding through a bad week.
Across a season
A few buyers take it as a household through winter and describe fewer and milder colds.
Ongoing
Your own glutathione falls as you age and the body does not stockpile it, so this is a daily thing rather than a course you finish. Which is why the 3 and 5 month sizes exist.

Questions

Faintly sulfurous and over in a second - glutathione contains sulfur, so a trace of that is normal and expected. What is not normal is a strong egg smell, which means the bottle has oxidised. If yours ever arrives like that, email us and we will replace it.

Most people notice nothing in the first fortnight. The reports cluster around week four - skin looking less flat, and more of the afternoon getting used - and get more specific by week eight. If nothing has happened by the end of the bottle, it probably is not for you.

2 mL - about thirty drops - under the tongue, held for around half a minute before swallowing. No water needed and no rules about food. Most people take it before their first coffee because that is when they remember. Consistency matters considerably more than the time of day.

It is more than most, once you read the labels properly. A 2000 mg headline is usually 1500 mg of glutathione plus a 500 mg blend - the same arithmetic ours uses, printed the other way round. When you compare, compare the L-glutathione line rather than the number on the front.

Email us within 60 days and we refund it, opened bottle included. It does not suit everyone and we are not going to pretend otherwise. We would rather you finished it and told us than left it in a cupboard.

Someone else noticed first

My daughter asked what I had changed, which is not a question I get. It is not dramatic and I would not claim it is. My face has stopped looking flat in photographs, and that is worth thirty seconds a morning to me.

Bought it for the afternoons

I was losing everything after three o'clock. That came back somewhere in the second month. I have no idea what my glutathione levels are and I am not pretending to, but the afternoons are mine again.

Off the capsules

A year of glutathione capsules and I never once believed they were absorbing. The liquid under the tongue made more sense to me and I feel different on it. I cannot prove why. I have stopped buying the capsules.

Works, tastes faintly odd

The taste is not nice. It is not the horror some reviews describe either - it is faintly sulfurous and gone in a second. I take it before coffee. Docking a star for that because I do think about it every morning.

Read the label properly

I nearly bought a 2000 mg one until I read the small print and worked out it was 1500 plus a blend. This one just says so on the front. That is why I picked it and it is doing what I hoped.
